Acrylic and fiberglass shower pans get used synonomously with one another, while their looks are similar, they do have some differences. While acrylic shower pans cost a little less, fiberglass shower pans feel and are a little sturdier.

A common mistake made when installing one of these 2 pans is neglecting to put down a mortar base underneath the shower pan to provide support . If you take the time to do this step, you will greatly increase the life of your shower pan. Un-supported pans crack after a short period of time, depending on the frequency of use, and average weight of individuals using the shower.
